Questions You Should Ask People Before a Background Screening

There are no shortage of questions when it comes to doing a background search. A lot of the questions are everything from the costs of a background check to if people need permission or not to do a background check. They are all valid and good questions and we will attempt to answer each one here.

By using a background check, you can verify a lot of information, information that they may not even be telling you. You can research everything from personal records, financial records, vital statistics and employment information.

Though some of the data may be limited and you have to have some information to start with, you can garner quite a bit from someone’s name. Of course, not having their name and trying to find out something would be next to impossible, so do you self a favor and at least find out their name.

Many people wonder what kind of checks you can perform. You can check everything from someone’s social security number (verification only) to see if they are a sexual offender. Sometimes, as in the case of verifiying someone’s social, or checking their sexual offender status, it is free, other information you will need to pay for.

Much if not most of this information is available at your local courthouse. Many people opt to find it online simply because it is more convienant. Many times, a trip to your local courthouse could prove to be a a lot of work, when you could just get the same information online, or have someone else do it. The costs of the background check vary based on the amount of information you are requesting and the time in which you need it.

Many people ask how long it takes to do a background check. This question differs in the amount of information you are requesting. If you are simply verifying an address, telephone number or social security number, it can take just a few seconds.

The more info you have on the person, the more detailed your reports will be. If you just know their name, there is a posibility that you may be researching an entirely different person. This is why it is quite important to get as much information as possible and confirm that you are looking at the same person.

You do not need permission to run the most basic of background checks. You do need permission, however, if you run a credit check or need detailed information such as employment history or references. Many times you can employment history but that is all you will be able to get, nothing anymore personal such as references and the like.
